      <description>&lt;P&gt;Please see the information below for the cause of this rejection code:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Reject code&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;IND-116&lt;/B&gt;: For each dependent in '&lt;I&gt;DependentDetail&lt;/I&gt;' in the return, if '&lt;I&gt;EligibleForChildTaxCreditInd&lt;/I&gt;' is checked, then that dependent's age&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;must be under 17&lt;/B&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;If multiple dependents are present in this return,&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;review&lt;/B&gt;&amp;nbsp;the 'Description' field. There will be a number in brackets, [?], that identifies&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;which dependent is causing this reject&lt;/B&gt;.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Verify that the&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;dependent's Name and Social Security Number&lt;/B&gt;&amp;nbsp;have been entered correctly.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Verify that the&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;dependent's date of birth is accurate&lt;/B&gt;.&lt;BR /&gt;
&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Verify the&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;Relationship&lt;/B&gt;&amp;nbsp;entered is SON, DAUGHTER, GRANDCHILD, SISTER, BROTHER, NIECE, NEPHEW, FOSTER CHILD, STEPCHILD, STEPBROTHER, STEPSISTER, HALF BROTHER, or HALF SISTER.&lt;BR /&gt;

&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;
  &lt;BR /&gt;
&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you've already gone through the steps above and you feel this message was received in error, contact the&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;Social Security Administration&amp;nbsp;&lt;/B&gt;(SSA) at&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;1-800-772-1213&lt;/B&gt;&amp;nbsp;to verify that their records are accurate. If SSA records need to be corrected, it can take up to four weeks to transfer the updated information to the IRS.
