One suggestion--use a mailing service that will provide you with a receipt or tracking so you know the IRS got your tax return. It takes up to 4 weeks to see your return status on the IRS site when you mail in your return.

To send your tax return by mail and get a receipt to see that the IRS received it:

On the IRS site you are also offered the use of an app called IRS2Go
