I purchased the TurboTax 2018 home and Business. However, the disc is only business. I purchased it from Costco which could be the problem. Unfortunately I purchased it in January 2019 and do not have the receipt available. Therefore, I cannot do my home taxes along with my small business. I need to exchange this disk for one that I can use.

Are you saying the box says "Home and Business", but the actual CD says "Business Edition" for corporations, partnerships, multimember LLC, estates/trusts?

What kind of "small business" entity do you have? Is it self-employed business, sole proprietor, independent contractor? Or single-member LLC filing on Schedule C? Or a corporation, partnership, multimember LLC, etc.?

I am saying that when I removed the "empty" 2018 TT box off the shelf, it clearly read, "2018 Turbo Tax Home and Business." However, when the Costco attendant (helper to the cashier) went to their secret locker to retrieve a box with the CD enclosed, she grabbed the wrong box; "TT 2018 Business" and threw it she in my shopping cart. With having to pay and grab other items, I did not check the TT box at that time. I did not notice the problem until I arrived home and attempted to load it on my PC. I attempted to retrieve information from my 2017 TT file. It is a shame we have to purchase these CDs rather than having a download from Intuit of the TT products we desire to purchase. Costco is such a tremendously busy zoo and they have little or no QA/QC in their checkout process.

Have you told Costco what happened with their employee screwing the purchase up? And if so, would they not give you the correct product?

You shouldn't need the receipt. Costco can pull up your purchases on their computer. They track all that. And should be able to provide a duplicate receipt when required.

Even if you purchase a CD at Costco, there is a way to get a program download. A lot of people don't even have CD drives, and when they purchase a CD from Costco, they can get a download.

But since you have the wrong product, you can't use the standard method to get a Home and Business download. You'll have to get the download from TurboTax Support if Costco won't exchange your product for the Home and Business CD.

Thank you so much for your assistance. I have not not spoken with Costco about it because I just discovered the problem and they are closed at this time in my location on the east coast. I will phone TT Support if I am unsuccessful with Costco. Perhaps they would be willing to exchange the product for the one I need. I am willing to pay any price difference, I just need the correct CD so I can prepare my 2018 Taxes, preferably on time.

The Business Edition you were given is a more expensive product than the Home and Business Edition. I suspect that once you explain it to Costco, they will correct it and provide you the correct product.

If they won't, here's how to reach TurboTax Support, and hopefully they will provide you a download of the Home and Business product.

You can use the form at the link below to schedule a call back, or it may provide a number. Hours are 5AM-9PM Pacific (8AM-12 Midnight Eastern) 7 days/week.

Where the form asks what product you are using, be sure in the dropdown menu to indicate "CD/download" and the proper operating system, then indicate which Edition.
