I am missing three 1099 misc forms (all from non standard insurance companies) for injury claims that I settled for clients. calling them has been a hassle, and no one really knows what to do. Do I continue to run them down for the form or just add it as business income? I just do NOT want any surprise letters from the IRS.

Thanks,

You can report the income on your business return as cash...

You can report the income on your business return as cash income. After you have entered the 1099's you did receive, you will be returned
to the Here's
your work info page. Scroll down and click the button on the
left titled Add
income for this work.
Then take these steps:

On the page Let's
enter the income for your [Name] work, choose the second radio button Other
self-employed income. Includes 1099-K, cash, and checks.

On the next page Tell
us about other self-employed income for your [Name] work, enter something along the lines of "Income from Company XYZ" in the box
labeled "Type of income" and enter the amount of money. You can add as many lines of cash income as you feel are necessary. I'd do one for each company.

If the IRS writes about your income because they receive a "surprise" 1099, you can show them where the income was included on your return.
