      <description>&lt;P&gt;You don't add a child's income from working to your tax return. If the child had enough income to be required to file a tax return, they would enter it on their own tax return. A child that you claim as a dependent can make up to $6300 of W-2 income before needing to file a tax return. If they had less than $6300 of income but had federal income tax withheld, they should file a return to get a refund.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If the child was not paid on a W-2, then they must file a return if they had more than $400 of income in order to pay self employment tax of about 15%.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If they file a tax return, they should indicate on the return that they can be claimed by someone else.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
