That would be your California refund only. The deposit stands for Franchise Tax Board California State Tax Refund. This would NOT include your Federal refund, which will come separately.

That depends. Did you take the Standard Deduction on your 2019 Federal return?

A State Tax Refund is taxable if you itemized deductions on that prior year's federal return and took a deduction for state income taxes instead of the sale tax. You got a deduction benefit for it so now you have to include it as income. If you took the standard deduction it is not taxable and you don't need to report it.

You need to check your 2019 1040 line 9 to see which deduction you took. How much is on line 9?

I got $185 but my state return was supposed to be $360 so I don't understand how this is my tax refund or why it took 2 months to come back

If the state changed the refund amount then they usually send a letter of explanation in a couple of weeks or you can call the state and ask.
