Switch to Forms in the upper right. Open the state return and there should be a Delete button at the bottom.

I cannot seem to delete my state return in order to start over and have mortgage interest synch. I use a Mac and have the desktop version of TurboTax Deluxe. Any ideas?

I have followed your instructions to remove a state return, up to the point where the warning message comes up. It is pretty ominous, "Once removed, 2019 California Individual Income Tax Return can not be recovered. Are you sure you want to proceed?" I hope it this just means erase it and reload the State again. I would like to modify the Federal and have it carried forward again onto the refreshed State side. I need to start all over again on the State.

Can you let me know if it works this way? Please.

It works just like you described. If you want to be sure (and I recommend you do this) save a back-up of your return before deleting the state. Simply do a "Save As..." before deleting the state.

Click File in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

Remove state return is an option.

As a precaution, you may want to save your tax return before removing the state tax return.
