My 1099-MISC has only an amount in line 7, Nonemployee Compensation. Do I need to enter this same amount in the (blank) Line 18 State income?

No. Your resident return automatically taxes your net income from self-employment, which may be less than what's on the 1099MISC due to expenses. An entry on the 1099-MISC for a state is not meaningful or necessary.

If your work was performed in a state you don't live in, add that state under Other State Income under Personal Info and allocate the net income in the nonresident return interview.
