Can I still e-file a 2015 return if I goto a registered preparer? Mailing it is a nightmare and I need to the transcript in two weeks

Some paid preparers can still file 2015 return HOWEVER the IRS doesn't have the efile system operating right now ... there is always a black out period as they change to the new tax year and we don't have a firm date in January when it will be operating again. So either you mail in the return OR take 2 copies to a local IRS building ... you will hand in one copy for processing and they will stamp your copy as received which may serve your purpose but the transcripts will not be available for several weeks at this time of the year.
