Wrong account number on return

I entered the incorrect account information on my tax return. Therefore my reimbursement was not direct deposited in my account. How do I track down those funds and get them deposited in the correct account?

If you have e-filed already you cannot go back and change your return.

If you entered the wrong bank account or routing number for the direct deposit of your tax refund, the bank will not recognize the account.

Your bank will return the deposit to the IRS or the state and you will receive a check from the agency in the mail. This will take more time than having the amount deposited directly to your account.
