For any of our download products, your Mac must have Mac OS X v10.9 or later [64-bit required]. I did some checking, and it seems El Capitan is version 10.11, so the products should work with your OS.

The full specs needed for a Mac are:

Processor: Multi core Intel Processor with 64-bit Support.
Monitor:1024x768 screen resolution or higher.
Operating Systems: Mac OS X v10.9 or later [64-bit required].
RAM: 1 GB or more recommended.
Hard Disk Space: 650 MB for TurboTax
Internet Connection: 56 Kbps (Broadband connection highly recommended).
Printer: Any Macintosh-compatible inkjet or laser printer.

I have an older version of Mac and downloaded the license code, but once downloaded, the system will not allow me to use Turbo Tax due to the older version. I haven't actually been able to do anything other than download the license and program. Now I can't use the license elsewhere because it states that it's already connected to another account. Is there any way to fix this or get a new code from Turbo Tax?

Unfortunately, it does look like the 2009 version does not work. Here are the minimum system requirements for TurboTax 2016 through 2019 software for Mac Basic, Deluxe, Premier, and Home Business editions.
