Dental costs prescribed by a doctor, fall into the catego...

Dental costs prescribed by a doctor, fall into the category of medical expenses. You can enter these by following the steps below.

However, note that medical expenses are very difficult to deduct because the total amount of expenses is first limited by 10% of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI - a subtotal on your return). You also must itemize to get any benefit. It looks like you're in the free version so you'd need to upgrade to deduct these costs.

The software will tell you the amount of medical expenses you need when you get to the section:

Login and click Take me to my return

Then click Federal Taxes tab and select the Deductions & Credits tab. (If you see the button for See all tax breaks select it)

Scroll down and click Show more to the right of Medical

Click Start next to Medical Expenses line. Next the software will ask you about all of your medical costs and you can enter your dental treatment costs that you paid.
