      <description>&lt;P&gt;The program is correct.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Your legal state of residence can tax ALL your income, regardless of where you earned it.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;A non-resident state can tax you only on income earned within its borders.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Therefore if you have non-resident state income, you must file both a non-resident state return AND a home state return.&amp;nbsp; (The only exception is if the two states have 'tax reciprocity'.) You'll be able to take a credit on your home state return for taxes paid to the non-resident state, so you won't be double-taxed.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;
