      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;B&gt;It depends.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/B&gt;You may file either Married Filing Joint or Married Filing Separately, but you must use one of the Married Statuses because you were married before December 31 (and congratulations!).&amp;nbsp; Most people do find it more advantageous to file jointly, as this FAQ explains:&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3288477" target="_blank"&gt;https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3288477&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;
