If you knew what the amount of the state income tax refund was you would split it between your ex and yourself. You should not have a problem efiling either way.

State tax refunds - if you took the Standard Deduction in
2015, the 1099-G for the state income tax refund would not have to be entered
into your tax return because it would not be taxable. However, if you
itemized your deductions in 2015, you would have to include the 1099-G in your
tax return.

If you have received a 1099-G for a state income tax
refund, please follow these instructions:

• Open up your tax return in Turbotax

• Click “pick up where I left off”

• In the search box at the top right of your screen
type “1099-G” and this page should appear:

    Where do I enter a 1099-G for a
state/local refund?

• Click the blue box “Go to 1099-G” and carefully
answer all of the questions regarding your state income tax refund.
