In order to import a W-2, your employer or payroll department must be a participating import partner with TurboTax, AND the employer must have the W-2s ready for importing. Employers have until the end of January to provide a W-2, so some companies may not have them ready yet for importing.

If your W-2 can be imported, when you enter the EIN, TurboTax will tell you so. It may ask you for some information off of your actual W-2 such as the amount of wages, or if your employer requires any control number to access the W-2 for import.
