Use the uninstall function in your operating system. If you are using Windows 11, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps. In the list of apps scroll down to TurboTax. Click the three dots on the right and select Uninstall.

If you are using a Mac, drag the TurboTax app to the Trash, then empty the trash.

But more important than removing the TurboTax software is to remove any copies of your tax returns, which contain a lot of personal information. Removing the software does not remove the files containing your tax returns. Delete all the data files with the file name extension .tax2025 (or any earlier year). Also delete any PDFs of your tax returns. Then empty the Recycle Bin (Windows) or the Trash (Mac).

If you have a PC you can use Windows to remove any program. If you are giving your computer away you can reset it to factory settings and so remove all files and programs.
