topic Dependent child in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

My son forgot to say I was claiming him on his taxes and got his refund. When I try to file mine, it was rejected becuse he did not put himself as a dependent. Now, I owe Money which i already paid throug the IRS. If I remove him and file, I have to pay more and the payment will change. If he amend it , will it affect his refund? What is the best advice that you can give me? If i mail it, what will happen to the money I paid since there is not tax return? Thank you

Yes, your return will either need to be mailed or you can get an IRS IP PIN to efile. Since you already paid, no worries about filing late (that was smart). Your son can Amend his return to see if he has to repay any of his refund.

He has three years to file an Amended Return.
