Trust is located/established in MD as is the beneficiary, but the trustee is located in PA. TurboTax defaults to PA state taxes required, but that is not necessary here. I downloaded the MD taxes but it keeps telling me I am filing as a nonresident in MD; taking me down the path of filing nonresident income forms. How do I get around this? I just want to file as a MD "resident" for the trust.

Because there is no single, nationwide rule that defines a trust’s “residence” for tax purposes. TurboTax Business defaults to the residency of the trustee to determine what state income tax return is to be filed.

Note that you can choose which state to use, as long as you have installed the Fiduciary tax file for that state.

Check with your Department of Revenue to confirm where your trust needs to file. See this article for links to State Departments of Revenue.
