Can't Review 1099-R "Enter, edit or delete your lender and interest info."

In "Review your 1099-R Summary" screen, 4 entries, all say "Needs Review" in red (Looks like a button, but you can't push it).

Error Message at Top says: "Enter, edit or delete your lender and interest info."

I don't know what this means or how to do it. I don't have a lender (no mortgage, etc.) or mortgage interest. All 1099-Int forms are reviewed and OK.

Now I am stuck. This looks like a bug to me. How do I get around it, and/or when will it be fixed.

When you see "Needs Review" next to your 1099-R, it usually means that there is information that might still be needed. You are correct in that the red box cannot be clicked. Instead, click on the Review button to the right of the red box and carefully review your entries for each 1099-R. Sometimes, it is simply an address or a tax ID number field that is still blank, or needs editing.

To review your entries, do the following:

Go to Income on the left panel within your TurboTax account
Click on the Review to the right of IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
Click on the pencil to the right of your 1099-R to review/edit it
Continue through the entries, especially the, "Enter your 1099-R details from _" screen
Ensure the details from your Form 1099-R are correct checking for which Distribution Code was used in Box 7 (or review if imported), then Continue
Also, continue through until you have reached the end of the review for that Form 1099-R entry. If you leave before going through the entire process, for example, if you leave once you have reached the, "Your 1099-R summary", you will miss several screens to review
Next, perform a Final review to determine if there is something preventing your from e-filing

I'm sorry, but I think you missed the main point of my question. I know exactly how to review my 1099-Rs. The problem is that the buttons which say "Review" each say "Needs Review" but they are not really a button at all. That is, clicking on them has no effect.

The reason is, presumably, because of the Error message I quoted in my question:

"Enter, edit or delete your lender and interest info."

Apparently the program thinks I need to review some kind of lender/interest info, but doesn't tell me how, and since I do not have any mortgage, lender or paid interest, I don't have a clue how to get past this.

Can you answer this, the real question, please?

You may want to try deleting your 1099-R entries since it looks like there is no gross distribution information showing up on your screen. Follow these steps:

Open you TurboTax program and click where it says Forms in the blue banner at the right.
On the left side, look for all forms beginning 1099-R.
Select one of the 1099-R forms.
At the bottom of the TurboTax screen, click Delete Form, the click Yes on the pop-up to confirm deletion.
Repeat steps 1 to 4 until all the 1099-R forms have been deleted.

Once you have all the forms deleted, click on the Step by Step in the blue banner at the right to return to Step by Step mode. Then follow these instructions to enter your 1099-R forms back in:

Click on the Personal tab, then Personal Income just below that. Click Continue
Click "I'll choose what I work on"
Scroll down to the Retirement Plans and Social Security section, then click Update or Start to the right of IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
Click Yes for "Did you get a 1099-R in 2025?"
Don't import the 1099-R - click Skip Import
Select the appropriate 1099-R type on the next screen by clicking the appropriate tile, then click Continue.
Enter the payer information on this screen, then Continue
Enter the 1099-R details on the 1099-R form on the next page.
Answer all questions after this screen pertaining to that 1099-R form.
After you select Yes for Do you have more 1099-R forms to enter, repeat steps 5 to 10.
Once you select No to Do you have more 1099-R forms to enter, click Done on the 1099-R summary screen.
Answer the questions that come after that screen until you get back to "Your 2025 Income Summary".

Thank you for answering my question, but

1. As a software developer of 50+ years, I would call this a "workaround" rather than a fix. Additionally, it is a real shame since the main reason I have continued to buy and use Turbotax for the last 10 or more years is for the carryover of such information as all the payer number and address details involved in entering a 1099.
Anyway, there is pretty clearly some kind of a bug here and it really ought to be fixed.

2. Unfortunately, that is not the end of it. I did as you asked with one of my four 1099-R entries. When I go back into the 1099 summary, I no longer find the original error message about "Enter, edit or delete your lender and interest info.". But, what I do find is the screen says "Add all the 1099-Rs you need to. You can edit, add or delete info here...." However, as you can see by the attached screen dump, there is NO OPTION to either delete my entry or to edit it. I guess that means that with the 2025 edition of Turbotax, you had better enter the 10999-R correctly the first time -- or you are out of luck and you have to go through deleting and re-typing it all over again.

Needless to say, if I am correct, this is simply unacceptable and an embarrassment for Intuit that the 1099-R code is just not ready for prime time at this time.(By the way, before I attempted this fix, I checked for program updates (there were none) and afterwards I did a Review (which claimed no errors at this point.)

3. I can do my best to enter the remaining 1099-Rs without error, but can you at least report this as a bug. And, if you have any idea what I might have done wrong, please let me know. As for editing or deleting, I know that I can go back to the Forms view and delete or even edit certain fields, so you don't need to walk me through that. There just ought to be a way to edit the data in the "Step-byStep" view as is claimed on that very screen.

Since nobody replied to my last question/comment, I will reply myself just in case I can help anyone else who has this problem.

For some reason, on my computer screen, the Edit and Delete buttons are INVISIBLE. If you slowly run your cursor over where they should be, a nearly invisible outline shows up. Once you learn which is which you can proceed carefully to click where the buttons ought to show up.
