TurboTax Premier 2025 fails to import all of my rental properties from 2024 [MOVED to Get your Taxes Done]

Downloaded TurboTax Premier Desktop for Mac. Then started a new return by first importing 2024 from a .tax2024 file created from TurboTax Premier 2024. The import imports only 1 of my 2 rental properties.

I have already done the following suggestions I found to try to fix this issue with no success:

1. Close/Delete the tax return and start again (in case import glitch)

2. Confirmed import directly from .tax2024 file (also TurboTax Premier)

3. Confirmed that the property was not marked as sold or converted to personal use in 2024

4. Confirmed that TurboTax doesn't think it was converted by checking the form 4562 and verifying

that the Cost (Net of land) is the same as Depreciable Basis.

5. Uninstalled cleaning (i.e. removing all ~/Library stuff) and reinstalled TurboTax Premier 2025

6. Tried to directly open the .tax2024 file in TurboTax Premier 2025 (some folks have success with this)

I am at a loss of what else to do. I have a ton of assets that I would have to manually enter for this rental and the ONLY reason I purchased Premier was it was support to work with rental properties.

Anyone have any idea why this simple import is failing for me and what to do to get it to work? Thanks!

It appears you have taken all the right steps. In your situation, you should re-enter any missing assets and/or your second rental activity.

Print your 2024 return or have it pulled up as well so that you can have it available to do your entry. The process will move faster than you think, albeit unpleasant.

A set of steps from our tax expert @MonikaK1 may be helpful!

To transfer info from your 2024 TurboTax for Mac return:

Open TurboTax for Mac 2025 and choose File New Tax Return.
Select Begin and choose Use a tax return that's on my computer.
Select your 2024 return from the list and select Continue.
- If you don't see your return, select Find your tax return.
- If your 2024 return is on another computer, here's how to move it to your present computer.
Select Continue to review the transferred information. We'll also give you opportunities to review, edit, or delete transferred information later on.

Be aware that once you've gone past the Transfer screens, you can't go back to revisit to re-do your transfer, go back to step 1 to start over with a new return.

Users sometimes report that problems with importing a return were solved after an update was run. On a Mac, simply quit and reopen TurboTax. If there are any updates, you'll be prompted to download them. Once you've done this, try again.

Tips:

It's best to use a wired, high-speed connection when updating, both to save time and minimize data corruption.
If your connection drops in the middle of the update, try again; it should pick up where it left off.

Yeah - tried all different types of import to get the import to work correctly. It just fails miserably and fails more and more every year after year to correctly import information in any correct or meaningful manner. I am giving up on TurboTax entirely next year. If I have to keep importing manually the information and figuring out where to get the values and have to do simple MATH calculations for this PREMIER tool I might as well just manually import into a competitors product next year. Bye Bye TurboTax ... I'm going to stop being a BIG SUCKER next year!
