Your fees will be based on which version of the software you use and on whether you prepare both federal and state. There are separate fees for federal and state when you use a paid version of online TurboTax. Only very simple returns that use only Form 1040 can be prepared using the Free Edition. If your return requires the use of any other forms or schedules you need to use a paid version like Deluxe or Premium or Live Assisted Deluxe, Live Assisted Premium, etc.
