topic In compatibility between Home and business 2025 desktop with Premier 2024 in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I purchased TurboTax Home & Business 2025 this year; a switch from the Premier from last year, however, I am unable to import my 2024 return into the 2025 program. The software cannot locate my 2024 return file.

The program indicates that it supports TurboTax 2024 files (.tax2024 and .pdf), but neither file type can be found during the transfer process. I also noticed that my 2024 file extension is .tt24. I renamed the file to .tax2024, and the program was then able to detect it, displaying the message: “Good news! We found your tax info.” However, when I click “Transfer Return,” nothing happens.

This has been extremely frustrating, and unfortunately, customer service has not been able to provide a solution. If anyone has experienced this issue or knows of a fix, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. I feel completely stuck.

I'm pretty sure that .tt24 is a Canadian TurboTax file, not a U.S. TurboTax file. Are you using U.S. TurboTax for 2025 or Canadian TurboTax for 2025? Which did you use last year? You would not be able to transfer a 2024 Canada tax return into a 2025 U.S. tax return, or vice versa.

This is the U.S. TurboTax support community. If you are having trouble with TurboTax for Canada please post your question in the Canada TurboTax support community.

Yes, you are absolutely right! It is obvious that I got the US version! and the customer support did not notice this. Thank you!
