If your driver's license document number is not being accepted, it may depend on your state's requirements.

If you are in New York, you can find the Document Number (an 8 or 10-character combination of numbers and letters) on the back of your NYS Drivers License in the first line of text after IDUSA. You will not enter IDUSA as part of your document number. You will enter the first three numbers or characters after IDUSA.

Different states have different requirements for these document numbers. If your document number is not accepted, you should be able to continue without entering a document ID Number. Select the option "I do not have a drivers license" if it is available.

This is not acceptable. I should not have to mail my state taxes because you can't get your system to accept my valid NY state license document ID number.

Did you enter the right number? Check the pictures provided by NY to ensure you are using the right number. (It's not the DMV-ID number)
