Amending a previously amended return

I am amending my 1040 X return 2022 (after duly saving the original to a secure location!), gives me a new amended return that it ALSO 1040 X. Shouldn't it be 1040 X-X (or something), to signal that it's a second-level amendment? The calculation it is showing is correct, so I am sure it is amending the first amended filing.

Amending an amendment is not different than an original amendment. Has your first amendment been processed by the IRS?
