Be sure to open TurboTax on your desktop and update the software if asked so you are starting with the most up to date version.

Form 4562 is available in the TurboTax Home and Business for desktop. See the available forms list in the link below.

Tax Forms Availability

Select the Business Tab at the top > Continue > Select I'll choose what I work on >
Edit beside Business Income and Expenses > Update, then scroll to Business Assets > Start or Update
Continue to edit any asset necessary > Finish this section of your return before going forward to review

No, I am having this issue as well. I am using the desktop version, and it is fully updated. There must be something wrong in the backend of the program.

The desktop version's updates seem to have lagged a bit behind the online version. According to my data the 4562 interface should be all set for you as of today. You can try refreshing your program as today (1/28) runs on or just wait until tomorrow and try it then and everything should be set.

Although the forms availability table indicates that Form 4562 is ready to e-file, the final update for depreciation calculations in the software has not been released. We don't know the exact date for these updates.

We recommend that you wait a few days for additional TurboTax updates to be released, which should resolve the experience you're having with Depreciation.

I have the same issue. It should not be listed as available for the desktop version on the website if in fact it is not available. The website is either being incorrectly updated or there is a problem of the forms not being added to the updates. I have gotten 2 updates since the time it has shown available on 1/21, but it still tells me in depreciation is not available yet. Please fix the availability website listing with a correct date or get the update out if in fact it is available.

I am having this same issue. I am using TT Home and Business on a Mac. I have the most recent software update, checked again this morning (1/31/26) for updates, closed the return I was working on, exited the TT program, restarted the TT program (which upon opening said my software was up to date), reopened the return, went to the relative section (I am working on the sale of a rental property), and received the same message that the form is not yet ready (it says the form will be ready by February, but likely sooner).

As others have noted, the TT website indicates the form is ready/available, so either that is incorrect or there is an issue with the software. Either way, I would appreciate an accurate update of the situation.

Update: On Sunday (02/01/26) I installed the new TT Home and Business update and relaunched the program. The form/functionality is still not available. I received the same message as before.

Same thing as your Update statement I quoted above.

Yes, I'm having the same issue with Home and Business and form 4562. This is the last thing I've been waiting, for weeks, to finish our taxes. Very disappointed and frustrated with TT this year. The TT form status is completely misleading for Desktop -- says all forms are ready which is clearly untrue. And the "wait a few days" message from experts is maddening.

May have to rethink this software in the future.

How about an actual estimate of when this form will be available for Desktop users. We know how to update. But this is not helpful. Like many others, this is the last form I'm waiting for to file my taxes. It's February 1, 2026, and I'd hoped to file before now. Not happy with TT.

We anticipate the depreciation calculations within the software should be updated after February 13, 2026. Our tech team is working hard to release the updates before that date. Please be aware that this update will affect depreciation for Schedule E (Rental Properties) only. Schedule C (Self-Employment) was updated previously and should be working in all versions of TurboTax.

Yikes, so we have to wait 2 more weeks? This is really not acceptable performance for your core product. I hope this is prioritized, it is the last item that I need to file and, like others, could use the refund. You all had one job...

First, I do appreciate the reply. Unfortunately, the Schedule E Depreciation update is exactly what I and others need to complete our tax filings. Another 2 week wait is a bit shocking. We all paid the increased cost of TT this season, Home and Business in my case, a premium product. To have to wait until mid-February for this final form is a complete disappointment. I have been a TT user for about a decade, and this is by far the worst TT performance I've experienced. Turbotax will lose customers over this letdown -- it's not the only product available.

Thanks for your reply and the new information Patricia. While the additional delay is disappointing and problematic, I understand unexpected delays can occur. However, what I cannot fathom or condone is the false and misleading information provided by Intuit regarding this delay. Intuit had to know before today that this form and the related functionality would not be "ready by February, but likely sooner" as noted in the message on application. Even after the update this morning the erroneous message remains the same.

It appears that many others are also waiting on this remaining component to complete and file their returns. Without accurate and timely information we can not effectively plan around the delay. This lack of communication is simply poor customer relations and service.

I also have the same issue. After buying Turbo Tax desktop addition, it would not load. Intuit says they want me to have Windows 11 to sue it. But they were more than willing to guide me into using Turbo Tax Online. The difference is horrific! And I have been seeing the same message that Depreciation and Amortization will be ready soon. CERTAINLY BY FEBRUARY! It is now February 3 and I still cannot go any further on my taxes. Still no depreciation for my numerous rental units.
