form 8606 not populating

I am filing an amended return to get a 8606 form on file. I deposited $8000 into an IRA and never took the deduction on my 2024 return.

I withdrew the funds in 2025 and now I am being taxed on the $8000.

I am having trouble generating the 8606 on my 2024 return

if you didn't file 8606 in 2024 and just need to record the basis you don't need to file an amended return you just need to send in the 8606 so it may be easier just to do it by hand. There will be a question in 2025 you probably found already, for you to input the basis to carry forward from 2024.

but if you do want to amend your 2024 return here is the general help. Note guidance to save as a different .tax2024 file or make a copy beforehand. if you follow these instructions I'm not sure why it wouldn't populate 8606 for you tho. But you'll need to paper file 8606 either way.
