topic Deluxe Online Filing Issue with Schedule 1 in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I have used TurboTax for years to file my taxes (typically used the desktop version). I always use Deluxe for my filing of standard W2 and a single self-employment job (which includes Schedule 1), and have never had any issues.

This year I opted to try out the TurboTax Online filing. I got all the way through entering all info, the same way I have every year on the desktop version, and at the very end it is preventing me from filing unless I upgrade to Premium. I am met with a message that says:

"To accurately complete your taxes, you need to upgrade to TurboTax Do It Yourself Premium

Why do I need to upgrade?
You have Schedule 1, Additional Income and Adjustments to Income.
TurboTax Deluxe DIY does not cover this situation"

Every search I try online says that the info I am having to enter for Schedule 1 is eligible for filing with Deluxe. Has anyone encountered this and found a way around it to allow filing taxes with the online deluxe version?

Hey @SteamTrain thanks for the reply.

No stocks or cap gains. My Schedule 1 exists because of independent contractor work with a home office, and one 1099-NEC.

I reviewed the linked page and ran down the list of the covered items under Deluxe, and I have none of the K schedules from the first section. However, the second section seems to say Schedule C is only partially covered. My filing also generates an 8829 form which is only checked for the premium online. I do enter some business expenses for utilities and such as well. If the indication is that deluxe online won't allow any self-employment at all, then I guess that's where I'm running into the issue.

Seems odd that what is allowed/covered between the desktop and online versions would not be consistent though...

Yes the Online versions are different than the Desktop program. All the Desktop programs have the same forms but in the online versions you may need to upgrade to Premium to enter certain things.

You can enter Schedule C Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to Premium version.
