topic How can I answer No to married question on Dependency worksheet line D? in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

One of the four children in the household turned 18 last year but is still in high school. For some reason, TT desktop does not set him to a dependent although he meets criteria. The only odd thing I can see on the Dependent and Nondependent Information Worksheet is that although I answered No to the question "was married on December 31, 2025" there is two places under section D and TT desktop automatically sets the top one to Yes and grays out the No box. I have deleted the person from the filing and reentered him but he doesn't get unmarried in both places, nor does he show as a dependent although I paid far more than half his support, he is full-time in high school. Does anyone know how to repair this?

He does qualify as your dependent based on the information you mentioned. I went to the program and tried this, it seems like you are trying to fix this using forms mode, you should be able to change it on the Dependency/EIC Smart Worksheet for his information or you can switch your return to Step-by-Step and change it there.
