You can file Married Filing Separate and still get the EV tax credit.

Your Spouses AGI is limited to $150,000

You would then enter the credit on her return:

Deductions & Credits

Click on Work on other breaks

Scroll to Energy-Efficient Vehicles [Start] or [Revisit]

Follow the interview

I thought that was the case, but when I go to deductions and enter the info, it says zero credit. When filing separately, is there a way to get to my wife’s deduction section?

If you are using the Married Filing Separately filing status that means that both you and your wife will be filing completely separate tax returns.

You would need to be working on her tax return in order to see any credits or deductions that have been entered. You cannot see that information while working on your return.

@trevorogers

Oh geez, that makes sense. For some reason I thought I could do it on one account. I’ll have to make her an account and go through it, that makes sense.
