topic Turbotax Premier 2025 - 1099 bug - can't enter gross distribution less than one dollar in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I am trying to enter a 1099 manually - there is no import available.

This is an odd situation - I have a 1099 with a gross distribution of 33 cents,

with 7 cents withheld for federal tax.

I can enter data in all of the 1099 fields OK - except for the first field - Gross Distribution.
The value should be 33 cents. If I enter $0.33, Turbotax shows a red triangle with a white exclamation mark and says "Enter gross distribution in Box 1." Turbotax does this for any amount up to and including 99 cents. Turbotax will allow a value of one dollar or any value above a dollar.

I called Turbotax help and their answer was to send me an IRS link saying that a 1099 isn't required for amounts less than $10. (So, don't include the 1099 in your taxes.) The link is for payers and says they are not required to generate a 1099 for less than $10. I have no choice about this - the payer generated a 1099 for 33 cents and sent that to the govt.

I can't finish my taxes correctly using Turbotax unless this is fixed. I can leave out the 1099 or I can enter a wrong amount - or I can switch to some other tax product ....

Is there a way to actually report a software bug to Intuit - other than calling the call center?

Since the taxable amount is less than $0.50, this does not have to be entered on a tax return. Rounding by TurboTax and the IRS will show $0 for the income and $0 for the taxes withheld.

Is the govt saying they don't need to see a 1099 for less than 50 cents?
I couldn't find that on any govt web site.

Also - I don't think that's what's happening here. TurboTax won't let me enter 99 cents for a gross distribution - and that is more than 50 cents ....

I found a work-around for this bug.

I entered the 1099 R using a wrong amount for box 1 ... e.g.: $1.00

The save the return and close Turbotax.

Then open Turbotax, open the return, edit the $1.00 1099R ... then
change the $1.00 in box 1 to $0.33 - then immediately save the
return and then close Turbotax.

Re-open Turbotax, re-open the return, and the 1099R shows the correct
amount for box 1 .... $0.33
