Would you please give us an update to what’s going on with this matter? I’ve already paid Koinky $199 for their CSV file that I had no issues with in years uploading it in TurboTax, this year however seems different and we are all over the map, we heard Jan 31st update should fix this matter, today is February 1st. Online platform won’t let you do that, only desktop version which is not true. 1099-DA form but that’s going to be implemented next year tax season.. please somebody give us a clue of what’s going on? I wish I could get my koinly refund to figure out another way but I’m stuck now and it’s about time to file our taxes! Thanks in advance!

According to artificial intelligence browser, the turbotax csv software is going through maintenance from Intuit side. Estimates predict that they should be functioning by mid february the latest. (Hopefully). Koinly support also told me that this is the case and that they wouldn't provide refund as it isn't their fault.

And hopefully an intuit representative will respond with confirmation seeing how they won't give us phone number to technical support.

Not just coinlyThis is an issue with all third party crypto texts ledger apps.

The CSV file was working fine for years and it was seamless never had an issue with it for the past years. Maybe the IRS is requiring 1099-DA form this year, I’m not sure but nothing was wrong the TurboTax and CSV file before. I’m not going to enter 7000 transactions manually, thats why I paid a hefty price to get Koinly to do it for me. I guess we have to wait to mid February and cross fingers this year. Thanks for the reply!

I tried that, but not all fields mapped to the form and TT asked me to complete over 1,000 fields manually. Not gonna do it.

February 20th or more likely 21st Turbo taxsaid the fixed 3rd party import option should be available and updated for 1099-DA (main reason update was required). I agree terribly inconvenient especially if you could receive a refund to reallocate the money to much cheaper digital assets, stocks, or any other sounds money option aside from holding fiat, since the asset markets are bleeding so heavily at the moment. Timing is important and this has been a terrible inconvenience.

This is a new document and not actually required until 2026. A solution can be to enter summary transactions if you have many transactions. Your worksheets should include a summary of your transactions, grouped by sales category, for example, Box A short-term covered/noncovered or Box D long-term covered/noncovered.

NOTE: In 2008, Congress passed legislation which required brokers to report the cost basis for securities and mutual funds to both the investors and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), effective tax year 2011, the difference between covered and noncovered shares is who keeps track of the cost basis.

For covered shares, the financial organizations are required to report cost basis to both you and the IRS. (Form 1099-DA in 2026)

For noncovered shares, the cost basis reporting is sent only to you.

You can always use direct entry if you choose, with summary totals. The only exception if wash sales, which must be entered separately, if you have any.

I think it's probably wise if you just keep waiting until next week or any new news comes out in regard to this specific situation. It's come to my attention that turbotax isn't even totally clear yet as to the 1099 digital asset rules and regulations and are performing maintenance as new information is coming in alongside third party crypto tax applications. The main problem is that the exchanges have a major discrepancy with cost proceeds and cost basis. They are not required to report how much it cost you to purchase the crypto but are going to report to the IRS what your proceeds were in 2025 based on sales on their personal exchange, possibly causing an unnecessary capital gains tax. This is because you may have purchased crypto from exchange (A) and moved it to exchange "B" where you sold it. In that scenario, the exchange b has no idea what you paid for the crypto initially and are unable to report a cost basis. If you are really in a rush, maybe look at 8949 to offset proceed/cost by manually reporting the cost. If you have a crypto tax ledger application, they should be able to generate one for you. To be safe I would wait.

All we can tell you for sure is what we are told. The developers are hard at work on this feature and we know that it is a needed and desired feature and they have promised to roll it out as soon as they are able.

I use the android online app of turbotax.

Koinly updated the turbotax gain/loss into a zip file. Redownlpad the zip file and extract all pdfs from the zip.

Go to turbotax add investments section or the add document section on home screen and upload each pdf file from the zip individually.

If it asks you to edit, just go into each individual one and in the editing it just asks you if you purchased it orhow you acquired, whichever crypto you have. Best of luck.

This is what i plan to do. You have Koinly 8949.
go into turbotax and choose the crypto. copy the summary for the short term and long term with basis not reported or whatever directly from the koinly form into turbotax
than you can click on turbotax desktop search forms and find the form. so if you use crypto exchange 1. you can search and find the cap asset sales sheet. you will see it all listed just like your koinly form and it says "see attached".
I assume that you just attach the koinly 8949 statement to the return. for me I plan on printing it. adding Koinly provided statement and not the 1099-da. .

this is how far i got so far.

"I assume that you just attach the koinly 8949 statement to the return." might be a bad assumption because TurboTax does not provide for the attachment of externally prepared documents. if you succeed, post back on how you did this so others will be able to copy your steps.

if it fails, you''ll need Form 8453 to mail it and the statement following the instructions on the foorm.

Can you please confirm that CSV 8949 import will work on the desktop version and not just the online version once it is ready?
