when will the 8283 form processing error be fixed ?

it says on 1/31/26 but I still see: This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected on January 31st, 2026. On or after this date, open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing.

If using desktop software, run this morning's overnight update (1 Feb)

Some folks indicate it's not working for Online software yet..maybe later today, maybe by tommorrow

OK!!!!, this morning's update (1 February) "seems" to have fixed it....(at least for the Desktop software) And a weekend update is unusual.

BUT

You may have to go thru the entries again if you haven't entered addresses yet for certain charities.

But look closely, I have no idea if it covers all of your situation.

I am using the online version

I called support they said it was supposed to be fixed as of yesterday but for some reason it’s still not for me

You do have to already be in a situation where your "Itemized deductions" are larger than the Std Ded....other wise the 8323 won't show up...because it's not needed if it isn't being submitted.

But other than that, TTX has multiple servers, and maybe not all are updated yet.

Wait a couple days.
