Bug Report: Form 5695 QMID validation error for Weil-McLain

I am trying to enter my energy-efficient boiler information on Form 5695. The software requires a "Qualified Manufacturer ID" (QMID). The official IRS-registered code for Weil-McLain is 46H2.

However, TurboTax is blocking the entry with a validation error stating the format must be "Letter-Number-Letter-Number." Because 46H2 starts with a number, the software will not allow me to proceed. This is a legitimate IRS code from the manufacturer's certification statement. How can I bypass this formatting rule to file my return accurately?

Or can Turbotax fix this on their end

I entered QMID I7Q6 and I received a validation error also.

Hopefully, a fix will be found in the near future.

Just went to my test online tax return and for the Home Energy Credits, entered QMID code I7O6 without any issues. Received an energy credit

I use the desktop version. Also, it is a Q and not a O.

Changed the O to a Q and still received the credit using the online editions

The Form 5695 for the 2025 TurboTax desktop editions has not been finalized. It should be available sometime during the week, probably on Thursday, 01/29/2026

Were you able to complete your e-file? I had no issues with this code when completing my 5695. However, after I paid to file, I'm repeatedly being thrown an error for the QMID and the program isn't allowing me to e-file.

@user17694544401 I encountered this same problem and have been communicating with other users with the problem. I have notified the TurboTax Moderators of this forum about the issue and hopefully will get this corrected within the next two weeks or sooner, no guarantees though.

QMID I7Q6 still does not work in the document and you're stuck in an endless fix the error before efile as of 01/26/26.

I can confirm I have the same issue with Weil-McLain .I even reached out to Weil-McLain and they confirmed 46H2 is the correct QMID,the gentleman gave me the impression other people are having a similar issues .

I just spoke to someone at Turbo Tax and after several trouble shooting tips we were not able to figure it out. He is reporting it to technical support. And yes he dis mention other colleagues seemed to be experiencing it as well. He told me to try back in 24 hours.

@Esky2018 Update your software to the latest release, click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen then click on Check for Updates

I just wanted to update, I'm using the online version. I tried again yesterday and still had the error. Today I logged in from my work computer and tried and it never gave me the error and I was able to file. Not sure if it was fixed or if something on my personal laptop was causing the error.

Another update, my return was rejected cause of form 5695, gave me the below fix. I have to wait until February 13, 2026 and hope it's fixed.

What needs to be done:

This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected on February 13, 2026. On or after this date please log back into the product and get the latest updates (TurboTax Online does this automatically). Then revisit the Federal return, run through review and re-transmit the return. If the reject continues, you may want to file this return via U.S. Mail: print and mail it to the appropriate taxing authority.

I e-filed today with the I7Q6 code. My federal and state got rejected. I received the exact same message, about waiting until February 13. Very frustrating. Seems like waiting and hoping for a fix come February 13 is the only option.
