The only federal stimulus checks were issued for tax years 2020 and 2021. There have been no other federal stimulus checks. If your only income is SSI you do not need to file a tax return unless you have a 1095A for marketplace health insurance, and you would not get an income tax refund unless you had tax withheld from your benefits.

If you are legally married, you cannot be claimed as a dependent by your spouse. A spouse can never be claimed as a dependent. But you can file a joint tax return with a spouse.

Do you receive SSI or Social Security? Those are not the same thing. SSI is not reported or even entered on a tax return. If you receive Social Security benefits, the SSA1099 that you get in January must be entered if you and your spouse file a joint tax return.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS AND SSI?
