misguided, insane. to Intuit it's the bottom line that counts. it probably has projected that the revenue from those switching from desktop to online will offset the loss of desktop users. desktop 5 returns for 1 fee online $139 for 1 return based on 2024 pricing.

As another long time user (only 20 years though) I disagree with TT decision to not support the program for those using Win 10 and finding it perfectly satisfactory.

Microsoft has announced their Extended Security Update program to provide security updates for Windows 10 until 10/13/2026. In light of this program, I think Intuit should reconsider their decision and provide TurboTax Desktop software for year 2025 for Windows 10 users.

I've been a TT desktop customer for many years (Turbo Tax Advantage). From Microsoft, I just got a year of extended security updates till October 2026 on my Windows 10 pc. My Windows 10 laptop is a high end computer and works without issue. I fell it's really lousy that TT is telling me under these circumstances that I have to upgrade to Windows 11. I do not want to use the online version. TT needs to change policy on this or will lose me as a long-time loyal customer.

And yet, I am another 15+ year user of TT. I am not disagreeing with bobguerity but fully supporting what he says. It is beyond me to think that a company like Intuit/TT has chosen to just abandon those of us (thousands of us) that are still on win10 and do not want or can't spend the money to get to win11. My system with win10 works just fine. Intuit/TT has had plenty of time to prepare for this with a solution for win10 (for 2025 taxes) and a new program for win11. I will not use the online to file because that is keen to provide the grifters with all your personal data. But you, for sure, lost another customer (me) albeit I have not yet found an alternative, but I will. Whoever took this decision at Intuit/TT was only thinking about his/her yearly bonus or is not very smart. Really BAD decision Intuit/TT.

I will not use Windows 11 and I'll move to Linux before I do. I will search for an alternative to preparing taxes for my clients.

I've been with TT since they were Parsons... I agree, this policy change makes zero sense and speaks zero of backward compatibility. Some the changes I've seen Intuit do to this tax software forced a migration to H&R Block and some of H&R Block's non-features forced a migration back to TT. but this latest with no backward compatibility is necessitating another move to H&R Block. Yes, sadly, this year i will be a blockhead

@wkunihiro_Intuit I think you are missing the broader issue..... TT makes a lot more money on a Online User than a Desktop user. They have no incentive to encourage Desktop usage.

Example: I do 4 family tax returns on one $70 Desktop liscense. The same 4 tax returns on Online would be $500-$600.

Case in point: when launching Desktop this year, there is a marketing blurb encouraging migration to Online

Though this lense, Intuit's decison makes 100% sense.
