The online software for 2025 is not yet available. Only the desktop download for 2025 is currently available. Online will be ready in early to mid-December.

In answer to transferring your 2024 information---you must transfer the tax file, not a pdf.

yes I have the 2025 downloaded. My question is can I transfer ALL of my 2024 numbers into 2025 or do I have to enter every w2, 1099? as a test. Do you know if this is posable? I want a quick appraisal of how the new Tax laws affect my tax without entering every number from last year.

2024 "numbers" will not transfer to 2025. Your personal information and the information regarding names of employers, EIN's, 1099's, 1098's, etc. transfers over. Even with that transfer you still have to enter 2025 amounts yourself. Your 2024 numbers are not going to be "plugged in" to calculate your 2025 tax refund or tax due if that is what you are hoping for.

desktop 1099B section isn't ready yet. when it does if you are on desktop you can just create a dummy return and key in high level numbers you don't need all the 1099 detail just one entry for INT, one for DIV, one for LTCG, one for STCG etc. It's not much work to mock up an estimate that way.

In the desktop version of 2024 TurboTax you can use the What-If Worksheet to accomplish what you want by marking the Use 2025 Tax Tables box for Column 2 and copying Column 1 to Column 2.

In 2025 TurboTax you can enter everything in forms mode, but don't do this with the actual tax file that you will be using to file your tax return. Do your actual tax return using step-by-step mode once all of the necessary features become available.

This is exactly what I need. It is infuriating to spend all day typing all 2024 tax data (my 2025 data has very few changes, nearly identical) into tax year 2025 software package so I can do what-if for IRA to Roth back door conversion so I can estimate my income limits before I get whacked for going over the limits and watch my Medicare premiums for example, skyrocket higher because I had no way to evaluate otherwise. The tax laws changed for 2025 and I need to see the effect of last year's tax data on this year's 2025 taxes. The what-if feature in TT doesn't appear to provide this. It says in column 1 you will see this year's tax data - NO, I need to import last year's tax data, all income, etc., into a what-if for 2025.

Do you mean that capital loss carryovers and rental property depreciation will not transfer from my 2024 to my 2025 return? This has always been the when I've used Turbotax for the past three decades.

The 2024 tax file must be transferred to 2025 before you enter any 2025 information.

I could always pull in the previous year to turbo tax. Now I can't even pull in the data I entered on the free version into the Paid DELUXE version!! Why NOT??? I've been on hold with Turbo tax for hours to ask this question.

I had the same issue. And read this in the tread.in order to transfer your 2024 info all of it. It has to be a turbo tax file. It can't be a pdf version of your taxes. So find your 2024 version of turbo tax look in its folders and transfer that file into turbo tax 2025. You'll have to start over with a new 2025 tax return but it beats having to input all that info manually!!! Hope this helps

If you started a return in TurboTax Online, and want to transfer it to TurboTax Desktop, click on Tax Tools > Tools in the left-side menu, then choose 'Save your 2025 return to your computer' from the pop-up menu.

If you have TurboTax Deluxe already installed, click on the downloaded .tax2025 file and it will open in TurboTax Desktop.
