topic Prior taxes in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Question one: for completing prior year taxes I haven’t done my 2019 and I completed the 2020 and then have not done 2021, 2022, 2023 and I was advised to complete 2024 so that one does not get added to my late taxes as well in which I am on a payment plan to pay my state taxes. My question is if I were to file my prior year taxes, I know that has to be in paper form. Is there a price for each year to get help with completing or is it recommended for myself to complete and mail out certified mail. is there a tip sheet for regular W-2. Since online it shows you the amount you owe at the moment or the return you are supposed to receive when this is mailed out do I get a bill when that is processed as well or what is the timing on that if any. If there’s any refunds or payments that I have to complete will that be sent to me via mail or email.

Question two: if I’m missing a W-2 and I do not recall the company I worked for or they are unable to provide it anymore due to the past years or time is there a different way I can request a record?
I just really need to get back on track thank you! Appreciate your response any.

You can file 2021, 2022 and 2023 with TurboTax. The prices will be indicated on the website. Here is the link to get started: Past years TurboTax

Past years are not eligible for us to prepare in Full Service so you would self prepare. Refunds and/or amounts due options available will be indicated in the TurboTax software for the applicable year.

Each year will indicate instructions for paper filing including attachments needed.

If you need information to prepare your returns you can get a transcript from the IRS to be sure you have all of your W-2's and none are missing: IRS Transcript

The latest date, by law, you can claim a credit or federal income tax refund for a specific tax year is generally the later of these 2 dates: 3 years from the date you filed your federal income tax return, or 2 years from the date you paid the tax. This is the reason for filing 2021, 2022 and 2023. Likely 2020 is too late for filing for a refund. Here is link to the IRS for further information about filing past years returns: Past due tax returns

Filing 2024 is recommended and you indicated you have a state payment plan accordingly. Be sure to reach out to the state if transcripts are available.
