Why are discontinuing Itsdeductible???????

Itsdeductible is an essential part of the integrated Turbo Tax software. If you remove it I think there is a high risk of losing a significant part of your tax software marketing share. I like many have been a Turbo Tax customer many years 30+. I am retired from 35+ years of work in IT field. I understand the impact and frustration this causes end user of the Itsdeductible software. As result of your decision to discontinue Itsdeductible, I have already started reviewing other tax software with the intention of switching from Turbo Tax to some other integrated solution that manages charitable deductions. However, I hope you will quickly reverse your decision to discontinue Itsdeductible and embrace its value to a large user base of customers. A reversal in your decision hopefully will start restoration of confidence in your leadership.

If they agreed they would lose a significant amount of market share, the decision to discontinue the program would not have been made in the first place. The program is also nowhere near an "essential part of TurboTax" as it's likely that the vast majority of TurboTax customers have never used it.

Obviously you have a narrow company line perspective, and do not understand the gravity of this problem for the many real users of Itsdeductible… no amount of rhetoric will convince you otherwise… only time will tell…

Uh, no, it's a realistic and pragmatic perspective. Corporations, such as Intuit, have a duty, first to their shareholders and second to their customers. You may not like it but that's just axiomatic.

The duty, specifically, is to maximize shareholder value in an ethical and responsible manner. Discontinuing a product that consumes resources yet produces neither income nor a benefit is part and parcel of that duty.

Well, you are displaying the true colors and values of TurboTax. Sometimes doing the right thing means sacrificing a little $ on the bottom line. That’s why customers are so frustrated and angry over your leadership’s decision to discontinue Itsdeductible.😡

If it were otherwise, Intuit would never consider discontinuing the program.

I Agree. At the very least, they should continue ItsDeductable through the 2025 tax season. Why would any company step on their customers like this. Hell, if you want, charge me $50 or so for the service. Please reconsider!!!

If it were a simple matter of charging for the program, they would have already done so. Intuit clearly felt it was not worth the time or expense.

Also, and this is only my take on the matter, companies such as Intuit typically think "long term". In that long term (roughly 10-15 years), consumer-level tax prep software is toast, gone, disappeared, as some form of IRS Direct File almost completely relegates consumer-level products like TaxAct, TurboTax, et al, to the dust bin. Companies that now develop consumer-level software will cease doing so and will then (possibly) only provide assistance to customers with the direct file system being utilized by the IRS.

Agree. Can't understand why they would get rid of a sticky, valuable and unique offering. I'd even consider paying a small fee for it because it makes things easy. Yet, mid-tax year, shut it down?

Again, if it were a matter of money, they would have already imposed a fee or charge for its use.

Most people on this board don't realize that TurboTax is just one component of Intuit's total business portfolio, which they have named their "Consumer Group" AND the Consumer Group accounts for around 25% of Intuit's total revenue. The other 75% is comprised of their Credit Karma and their Global Business Solutions Group (which is the largest component).

Of those three, the Consumer Group (which includes TurboTax) had the weakest revenue growth.

I share the disappointment about ItsDeductible being discontinued. But, I have found an alternative that appears to be excellent. It is called Deductible Duck. This app is very similar to ItsDeductible, so should feel completely familiar to former ItsDeductible users. The app even allows for exporting data directly into Deductible Duck so you can maintain all of your prior year history. Although it's early in the game, I also have had great experience with their customer service. Assuming that Intuit sticks to its plans to discontinue, I suggest you check out Deductible Duck.

I just found it out now! 😲 I used it all the time ever since I started itemizing years ago. California income tax rate is high, itemized deduction is the better way to go. Of course, until they changed Tax law, which limits state income tax + property tax to $10K 😠 I still use itemized deduction as I like to buy stuff and have to make room for new things. ItsDeductible made it so easy. So sad to see it's gone... 😢

@gsavadov Deductible Duck is only for the deduction items, right? Is there any tax tool that does what TurboTax previously do that can do simple tax (only stocks, so I need to get premier version) plus the deduction tool?

Not really. You can try freetaxusa.com which is free online tax filing, but it doesn't have anything like ItsDeductible.

I'm as frustrated as anyone. I'm posting this msg in a few places to widen the discussion a bit.

I've definitely given up on ItsDeductible. I know the group that created GiveTrackSave, and it's way better. Yeah, I'm biased for sure. I won't compare it with ItsDeductible since there is no comparison. Gosh, I love the "Recurring Donations" feature in GiveTrackSave.
