My 2024 federal tax return was rejected. IRS rejected my spouses 2023 AGI. I checked her 1040 form & her IRS transcripts & its the same. Why was the number rejected?

Filing 2024 taxes after an extension. Wife has her own business. Wifes 2023 AGI per her transcripts on IRS website are the same that the IRS rejected. Is this a mistake?

Are you filing a Joint return for 2024? What about 2023? Try entering 0 for the AGI. The IRS might have processed the 2023 return later so the AGI didn't get entered in time. Especially if you mailed it. That works for most people. See,

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
