I want to amend my 2022 1040. How do I do that so I don't have to input all the data for the whole tax return? The only change is to deduct my health insurance premiums for self employed individual. I forgot to claim when I filed original return. I amended the 2023 1040, but I had to enter everything to make one change. There's got to be a better way. Thanks for any help.

Do you have the software that prepared your original return and the submitted .tax file in a safe place on disk? That offers the easiest way, avoiding reentry of entire tax return.

Do you have a paper/PDF copy of the original return, or an IRS transcript?

You already know all about 1040-X from prior experience.

1040-X reports the differences between original and correct

Reply back if the answers are respectively, NO, YES, and you want a manual process.

@N7075g
