I need to file taxes for a deceased person for 2022-2024 as well as the final tax return for 2025. How can I do this when my email and login are connected to my tax info and I don't see an option to file for another person.

Past year returns can only be prepared using the desktop download software on a full PC or Mac. Software for tax year 2025 is not yet available; that will become available in November or December and will require many updates before you can actually file the return in 2026.

You can use online TurboTax for 2024 only--no other year. Only a 2024 return can be e-filed; past year returns must be filed by mail.

You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2024 only. Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.

Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and 2023 is permanently closed.

Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

If you are trying to use online for a 2024 return for someone else:

When you use online TurboTax software you get one return per fee.

Each return needs its own account and user ID. If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, the second one overwrites the first return and it is lost forever.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-start-another-return-in-turbotax-online/00/25596

For 2024 current year Online is only good for 1 account and 1 return. You can use the same email address for 5 accounts and returns.

You can start another return in TurboTax Online by:
Logging out if you are in your account
Choose what TurboTax Online product you want to use for the second return
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/online

Create your account screen
Set up a new login for the second return
Start working on the new return

For 2024 and 2025, you need to make a separate online account with a different user name and password from your own personal account..

For 2022 and 2023, you need to buy Turbotax to download and install on your own computer. You can create multiple tax returns under different names just like creating multiple word processing or spreadsheet documents.
