I was widowed last July and have updated my W4 to reflect this, I'm in Nevada, so no state tax, and yet, I am having more withheld so that my bi-weekly pay is less than when I was married.

How can I adjust this?

Also, for 2026 filing, can I just use a 1040EZ?

I have no dependants

When you updated your W-4 form, did you indicate that you are Single now? Since you stated you have no dependents, you are not able to file as a Qualified Surviving Spouse and take advantage of the better tax rates that Married Filing Joint status would get you. Generally there is more tax withheld for Single tax status filers than Married Filing Joint tax status filers. That could be why you are now clearing less in your paycheck. To be certain though, I would suggest you use our W-4 Calculator to get an accurate response as to how you should complete your W-4 form based on your specific information. Then compare it to what you submitted and make any necessary changes.

Regarding using the form 104EZ, that form was discontinued by IRS and is no longer in use. You will typically file the standard 1040 form.

Sorry for your loss. My husband died too. For 2024 did you file a Joint return? Then for 2025 that we file next year you will be Single. You will need to start over with a new return and new account. And don't transfer from the Joint return.

He had SS that I had a Tax Advisor help with. Then I changed my status to single for 2025, which reduced my take home (a decent amount).

Thank you for your condolences.
