It's all automatic. You should receive a check from the IRS to the address on your return.

I filed an amended return for 2024,the IRS tried too post my refund on April 21 and it didn't post because I had insuffent funds it returned it to the IRS on April 22nd. I called because I had to verify my id and everything, and I asked do y'all automatically send a check if bank account rejected they said yes. Takes 9 weeks. I've changed my bank information it doesn't have insuffent funds but it has no money in it I'm in between jobs... So I told the IRS I read online that they automatically do that and they said yes they do.. so do I need to take action and do anything else just really stressed with bills and everything due so do I need to take further action in doing anything else?

Something sounds wrong with this. Your IRS refund couldn't be deposited because your bank account had insufficient funds? That would only be if the IRS was trying to take money out of your account like for a tax due. Or did you enter the wrong bank account number or routing number?

Were you having the Turbo Tax fees deducted from your refund? If your refund is taking too long then Turbo Tax will try to take the fees out of your account.

Why did you file an amended return? Amended returns take a long time to process, like 16 weeks or more. Did you wait to amend until you got the first refund or paid the tax due? OH, Did you have a tax due on the original return? The IRS would try to take that out.

The amended return is only for the difference you get back or have to pay AFTER the original return was done. You still have to pay the first tax due.
