Logged in because of an alert. Says ib Been charged over 200 dollars for services I don't use need or want . I only have a simple return every year for years!!

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons (BEFORE you e-file) :

When you chose to “start” in the Free Edition —

Directly below the words “Free Edition” there is a blue link that says “For simple tax returns only” If you click that link it brings up this information:

You can file with TurboTax Free Edition if you have a simple tax return.*

*A simple tax return is Form 1040 only.

Situations covered in TurboTax Free Edition include:

W-2 income
Limited interest and dividend income reported on a 1099-INT or 1099-DIV
Claiming the standard deduction
Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC)
Child tax credits
Student Loan Interest deduction

Situations not covered in TurboTax Free Edition include:

Itemized deductions
Unemployment income reported on a 1099-G
Business or 1099-NEC income
Stock sales
Rental property income
Credits, deductions and income reported on schedules 1-3

Of course I used the free edition. Or anything else I was led to believe was free. So given the fact that only a w2 was filed why was I charged over 200?

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on View order details

I was charged almost $300 myself. Im disgusted i could have paid an accountant to do all the work for me. Total ripoff.

IN 2025 THEY AUTOMATICALLY WANT TO MAKE YOU USE THE PREMIUM VERION.

ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PAGE, DOWN TOWARDS THE BOTTOM IT SAYS "SWITCH VERSION"

YOU MUST SELECT "DOWNGRADE TO BASIC" IN ORDER TO AVOID THEIR SCAM THIS YEAR

DONT LET THEM SCAM YOU
