What happened if someone claimed me as a dependent wrongfully, will i still get the same refund back? for more context i filed my taxes but it was rejected due to someone already claiming me. So now im wondering if i still will get the same amount back as my refund stated earlier?

You will have to mail your return. You don’t have to say someone can claim you. The IRS will sort it out and probably send you both letters to determine who can claim you. Do you know who might have claimed you? You might still qualify as their dependent.

no i have no idea, i still do live with my mom but im over 18 and she does not provide for me financially. will i still get the same refund back if i file as Claimed as a dependent by someone else?

You should ask her if she claimed you. And double check your ssn maybe you typed it wrong and got someone else’s by mistake. How old are you? Are you a full time student?

i’ve asked her and she said no, i’m 19 and currently not in school i’m working full time. ive already check my ssn and double checked all info :(.
