For several years in a row, TT has added exactly $1k to my expected Maryland State refund which the state, of course, has dutifully adjusted. I've checked the entries for withholding and paid estimated taxes. IS there a glitch in software that has similarly affected others, a hidden feature I may be overlooking? Strange that the amount is the same year over year.

Can you check your 2023 Maryland tax return for any credits worth $1,000? It is strange that this has happened and if possible I would like to help identify the entry.

thnx much for prompt response.

poked into last yr's return and see no $1K credit. I think TT somehow is fumbling my Jan $1K estimated tax pmt and counting it twice. I first thought the state didn't recognize that pmt but adding my four estimated payments over the year, I come to the same total estimated payments as the state.

And, as I think I mentoned in my orig post, I checked and re-checked what I had entered in the federal tax section on estimated pmts (where it also asks for state estimated pmts and then carries the data over to the state return) and I have entered correctly. "tis a puzzlement. Having just mailed my '24 return to the state, can't wait to see what they figure this yr.
