Try to submit only the federal return to start,
Then submit the state
If the state does not work, What state is it

I was only filing Federal, state (Pennsylvania) is filed by mail. TurboTax doesn't make this easy, but I refuse to pay for state filing.

After several failures and no luck at Intuit help, I did an external search on the net and found recommendation and link for a manual update posted --- on the Intuit site. Fortunately, that worked.

Same problem with state of NC. I was able to separately file federal taxes, but I get the failed_validation message trying to file for state. Tried installing a manual super patch I found in another post here, restarted TT, still no dice.
