is there an order I must file if I’m married filing jointly, if I’m mailing it in since state and federal taxes are different.

Federal and state returns are processed by completely separate entities, so if you are filing by mail, mail them in whatever order you want to. The IRS and state are not watching to see if you filed with the other taxing authority.

There is no specific order to mail your Federal and state returns.
