I have a 1099-G from the state of Utah For the 2024 tax year. It just for my tax refund from the state of Utah from last year. It isn't a business refund or anything but TurboTax wants me to put business stuff down.

To post the 1099-G state refund we can use the Tax Topic feature.

Select Tax Tools

This is on the left sidebar
You may have to minimize the Federal and State options
You also may have to scroll down on that menu

Once you can work on Tax Tools
On the drop-down select Tools
There will be 3 or 4 green boxes
Select Topics Search
Type 1099-G
Scroll to 1099 G state and local tax refund [GO]

Did you have any of these types of income?

State and local tax refunds received in 2024
1099-MISC income
1099-NEC income
1099-K income

Select the first option

I did that then later on it said that I needed to choose what type of payment it was and didn't give the option for tax return

Try going to Federal > Wages and Income > Other Common Income > State and Local Tax Refunds on Form 1099-G to enter your information.
